Thank you to everyone who attended Monday’s event featuring Natya Dance Theatre in the Chicago Cultural Center’s Claudia Cassidy Theater. This performance was a part of Natya Dance Theatre’s Reach Out and Connect Series.

During today’s event, Natya Dance Theatre’s Artistic Director, Hema Rajagopalan, explained the history and features of this form of dance. Featured in the video are very talented eighth grade students who have already spent many years learning Bharata Natyam. Make sure to look closely for the mudras, or symbolic hand gestures, which are used to convey the story.
