The Coast of Chicago juxtaposes the ordinary story of a neighborhood and its “characters” with the life of the sprawling city around it. Here the monumental and the spiritual intermingle with the gritty and the everyday. The play is a love letter to Chicago and its diverse neighborhoods. The Coast of Chicago, adapted from Stuart Dybek’s enduringly popular collection of stories, will be performed on summer evenings on the rooftop terrace of the Gallery 37 Center for the Arts.
