Join IN>TIME artists and curators along with special guests Sara Jane Bailes (UK based Performance Studies Scholar, Head Drama University of Sussex), Julie Laffin (Artist & Curator of Site Unseen), Nick Lowe (Artist & Chair Arts Admin SAIC), Trevor Martin (Artist, Director of Exhibitions & Performance Faculty, SAIC), Abina Manning (Video Data Bank), Roell Schmidt (Director of Links Hall) Roberto Sifuentes (Co Founder of La Pocha Nostra / Performance Faculty SAIC), Lorelei Stewart (Director Gallery 400, UIC), Shannon Stratton (Director, threewalls), Tricia Van Eck (Curator, MCA), Faith Wilding (Artist & Chair of Performance, SAIC) and others as they discuss strategies for sustaining and continuing a live art performance practice.
This special symposium, presented in conjunction with the bi-annual IN>TIME Performance Series Showcase, will examine questions such as:
--How do you balance the needs of presenters, funders and audiences while maintaining innovative, radical practice?
--How do you keep your practice alive and motivating?
--How do you transition from institutional training to self-directed practice?
