Hailed for a style “infused with passion and intelligence,” The Hypocrites tackle a play that has been criticized as a blatant commercial for Nationalism, and in response ask, “What do you have against Nationalism?” Shakespeare questions the role a king must play to be considered a good leader. Henry 5, formerly the rebellious Prince Hal, follows his father’s advice to seek foreign quarrels and resolves to reclaim the lands in France that rightfully belong to England. The Hypocrites received a Jeff nomination for Marat/Sade and enjoyed a successful run and a remount of their production of Chekov’s The Cherry Orchard.
