Teatro Luna, Chicago’s all-Latina theater ensemble, creates an honest, irreverent and fast-paced look at the diversity of Latina women’s lives based on their actual experiences. From a 13-year-old working at a factory to a woman desperate to keep up with American beauty standards to a rhythmic tutorial on how to fill out the U.S. Census forms, Dejame Contarte (Let Me Tell You) explores issues that matter not only to Latinas, but to women of all color. Performed in English with some Spanish, Dejame Contarte was written this past summer by the Teatro Luna ensemble in an intensive month-long workshop at Intar 53, Hispanic American Arts Center in New York City and was hailed as “smart, cheeky, passionate and inventive” by The New York Times.
